I took blade making instruction with Cedric and went from knowing nothing about blacksmithing to making an awesome rigging knife in a matter of days. I had complete control over the design process and almost all aspects of creation, but was able to get Cedric’s expert help when I needed it. He assisted on a few tricky bits and fixing some mistakes, but overall it was a product truely forged by my own hands. The knife turned out great and I would definitely recommend it as a fun crafting experience.

I attended a wilderness program with Doug last year and I really enjoyed meeting him. He is obviously passionate about crafting really top quality knives and jewelry ect. In three days he instructed 8 or 9 students who had little to no experience with blacksmithing, and we all had forged really sexy knives by the end of the last day. It was one of my favorite projects of the year, and I know the other students agree with me. From watching Doug work and listening to speak, he obviously knows his material and tools. He has put a lot of effort and energy into what he does and definitely has the determination and skill to create really nice pieces. I gave Pete the knife on Saturday, as we celebrated with friends ahead on the weekend instead of the actual day, which is this Thursday.
The gorgeous knife you made was and is a big hit! It fits Pete’s hand very well, and he thinks it’s very special. His buddies are jealous, too!… It was the perfect 50th Birthday present!
