Custom

It’s important to me that customer relations are relaxed and friendly. While the focus at Winter Wolf Forge is knifesmithing, all custom jobs follow the same general process. You can initiate a Custom Order in one of two ways. Fill out a Custom Order and tell me what you’re thinking, or go to the Store Page and click the “Start Custom” button next to any of the pieces you want to use as a starting point. From there I will work through the design process with you directly.

Imagination to Creation

It’s important to me that everything I make is quality work. Whatever the form of the object is, I expect it to do it’s job, and do it well. Equally important is the aesthetic of the project. My goal is to create art in every day objects that still maintain functionality.

We’ll start with direct conversation to establish aesthetics, meaning, and important elements. Most importantly, we’ll discuss what you want the object to do. Once we have a decent idea of where we’re headed, Next, I’ll find some images to further narrow the aesthetics and functionality.

Next, I’ll do a series of sketches to put what we discussed onto paper. I try to mesh the visual design with the functional requirements in a way that won’t compromise either. We’ll keep talking and sharing sketches until we’re both satisfied with the design. Once we’re set, I’ll begin collecting materials from my stock and a number of other sources. Anywhere from supply companies, raw good, and especially wild harvest materials.

Now you get to sit back and relax while I begin the process. Meeting your expectations is top priority, but I also find that the materials often have a voice of their own. If at any point in the process there are developements that require your feedback, I’ll take photographs and measurements and send those your way for approval.

In the end I hope we finish with something you and I can both be proud of; something that will last for years to come.
