Choice and Creation

I’ve always been interested in hands on craft related skills. Even now I am making endevours into wilderness survival and living skills. I think the main aspect of art that pulls me to it is that creation itself. I want to forge iron and steel because it allows me a connection to this creation in a medium that I feel connected to. I can fabricate what is within the intangible of my mind into a tangible expression of my intent. An ultimate expression of Choice because it’s not a yes or no, this or that, it’s my choice to create as I will. I can, given practice and patience and work, create whatever I want. My only limit is my imagination and the tools I have, and I can always make more tools. This is why I am a metalsmith. Not to play god. Not to feel completely in control. I am a metalsmith because it is an ultimate expression of choice in the form of creation. My creation.

Objective

Seeking commissions and jobs that utilize my design and fabrication skills. I am a very creative, hands on person and enjoy design and implementation challenges. I also love to get out and get exercise while I work, and find the personal benefits of ranch work and similar to be very rewarding. I’m hoping to obtain any life skills related to my profession as well as rural living, and life in general. I am very willing to partake in any work or activity that gives me the opportunity to learn and grow as an individual. With my personal shop up and running at home, I hope to start getting clients for commissions and custom metal work to further expand my portfolio and my experience.
